About Me

My photo
Derek Malicki Photography
The people who know me may have told you my story, but I'll tell a small tale of it here. I absolutely adore exploring and the art of photography. For me, these have been my life long passions, as well as the ambitions for my future. I began shooting with my first SLR in 2006, combined with my love of adventure, the two fit perfectly. The world began opening up to me on so many different levels, with a new chapter around every corner. From this point, my photos began to transform; they were no longer just memories, but rather a powerful way to tell an almost surreal story. I see photography as a mixture of science and beauty that creates magic. When a day goes by without photography, life feels incomplete. For me, my photos are not just another image, taken from a split second in time, frozen for review; but something from a time and place- removed from where we are now. They are both a memory and a reminder. In many ways, I am not trying to capture what I see when I look through the lens, but rather what I feel.
